OECD: Portuguese Economy accelerates in 2008 and converges with Euro Zone for the first time in 7 years

In the following two years Portugal is expected to grow by 1,8 and 2,0 % , while the Euro Zone will grow by 2,6 in 2007 and only by 1,9 % in 2008, which means, that if these projections will confirm, Portugal will grow more than the average of the countries of the single currency in 2008, for the first time in the last seven years.

For 2009 the OECD foresees an economic growth of about 2,2 % for Portugal, which should continue to be supported by the increase of domestic demand, and thus strengthening the trend of economic convergence with the other countries of the Euro Zone.
