The 2008 Index of Economic Freedom of the Heritage Foundation covers 162 countries across 10 specific freedoms such as trade freedom, business freedom, investment freedom, and property rights. Portugal occupies overall the 53rd place, but achieved with 86% the 13th rank in trade freedom, and has excellent ranks as well in investment freedom (18), property rights (26) and business freedom (18).
